Elders Protocol Project
Monique developed this year long project that culminated in a protocol document and short video on the gentle process of co-creating with diverse Elders in the Calgary area. While a written document, the use of oral storytelling and taking the work into ceremony where practiced throughout the process.
The Indigenous Elders Protocol project in Calgary is a significant initiative that focuses on gathering and sharing the wisdom, stories, and guidance of Indigenous Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and Cultural Mediators. This project aims to blend the needs of the community with the knowledge that the Elders wish to impart, creating a document that supports non-profit organizations, industry partners, educational institutions, and others in building reciprocal relationships with Elders and Knowledge Keepers.
The project is centered on Indigenous ways of knowing and doing, and it acknowledges the importance of the Treaty 7 First Nation territories, which include the Blackfoot Confederacy, Tsuut’ina Nation, Stoney Nakoda, and the Métis Nation. The document produced from this project is not meant to be a prescriptive guide but rather a foundation for building relationships and understanding roles within those relationships.
